what to do with this?

Ok.. I just got this fabulous Italian square... it's not really a bead really, not a button..... but it is sooo cool!

And I know it wants to become something even cooler!! I just haven't figured out what yet. It's nice and large... 1-1/2" square.... beautiful coloring... hmmmmm ...

I don't want to "drill" it, but the hole is too far down to use any sort of jump ring... not sure if a leather cord would do it justice!
Wire wrapping just doesn't seem to fit this piece either.....

.....any suggestions?

How about semi-wire wrap? I'd get some oxidized brass (I think either a very dark brass or black would look best), use 2 wires. Make two spirals, put through the center and bend up so just the spiral is on the bead. Wrap around to the top and finish with two spirals that again come over the front of the bead just a little. If you make it tight enough, and play with the spacing a bit, it should be sturdy. (And the brass will keep its shape)

Wow that is a wonderful find. I would just make a wire bail to put through the hole, and hang from a simple cord. It's too gorgeous to mess with it any other way!

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I actually changed the post a little bit so it makes sense when I say an "extra hour of daylight." Derrrrrr. :oP
